Carolyn earned a Master of Arts in Education from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts and has taught students with special learning needs for many years.
During the 1980s, she discovered the Feldenkrais Method, and found a new way of learning and teaching. For a physically active young woman, always curious about moving well, and constantly seeking new ways to reach her students, it was a perfect fit.
Carolyn attended a four year professional training program in Toronto, Canada, and became a Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner in 1987. Since that time, she has taught workshops and classes to the general public, in workplace wellness programs, in Mindfulness programs and retreats, and to college classes. Her students and private clients have included athletes, musicians, practitioners of martial arts, members of Community Senior Centers and those with injuries and neurological challenges.
Carolyn brings to her Feldenkrais practice a number of years as a Licensed Special Educator in public school settings. In addition to working with students with different abilities and their families, Carolyn became involved in bringing Mindfulness Education to the public school setting, and provided leadership in this area in her school district.
Additionally, Carolyn pursued intensive coursework and training in the area of Developmental Trauma, and again, has been instrumental in bringing new knowledge and skills to her fellow teachers and administrators.
Carolyn is a member of the UVM Osher Center for Integrative Medicine.
Many years ago I was scheduled for surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome. At my husband’s insistence I called Carolyn; he thought she might be able help me. Well, I never had the surgery. In only a few private sessions with Carolyn, my pain was gone and strength returned to my hands, wrists and arms. I could resume the activities I had lost through pain and weakness.
As one who suffered from earlier work-related repetitive strain injuries to my arms, hands and neck, I have worked with Carolyn regularly through the years. She has kept me moving well, through the natural bumps and bruises of everyday life. Indeed, now in my late eighties, my doctors are astonished at my flexibility, health and vitality.
I highly recommend Carolyn and the Feldenkrais Method.
I did not grow up with the highly attuned kinesthetic awareness that many athletes have, and have struggled at times with physical coordination and balance in part due to a congenital knee problem. As a middle aged adult I began to pursue a number of activities to improve strength, coordination, and flexibility including Tai chi and karate. Several years ago I started taking Carolyn’s Feldenkrais classes.
It was not immediately apparent to me that Carolyn’s lessons were having an impact on how I moved. However, a few weeks after I began attending Carolyn’s class, my karate instructor began to comment on how much more effective a particular technique such as a roundhouse kick was. Invariably the technique that had improved was related to the Feldenkrais class I had done the night before.
Since my karate instructor did not know what the focus of the Feldenkrais lesson had been, his observations showed me just how effective this approach is in increasing one’s ease and functionality in movement.
The movements we go through in class are often subtle and Carolyn always emphasizes the importance of moving slowly, mindfully, and with only what is easy. Over time I have become more in tune with the changes that occur as a result of a particular lesson in other parts of my life including driving, gardening and how I sit.
It happens. I was an aging, broken down 57-year old athlete. After years of serious bike racing, ski racing, running and hiking, my joints, especially hips, were getting tense and sore with any activity. I wanted to continue the activities I loved and heard Feldenkrais work could help me learn to move more efficiently.
I scheduled time with Carolyn and immediately after our first Functional Integration (FI) session, the reduction in tension throughout my body was noticeable. Through her hands-on work, and recommended Awareness Through Movement (ATM) exercises, I was able to essentially relearn how to move and return to most activities within a year (although I continued to have pain in my left hip.) I’m grateful Carolyn taught me so many different movement lessons, to enable me to maintain what I gained from working with her.
Two years later, I had a left hip replacement to address a congenital condition. Just a few hours after surgery, I felt myself using some of the skeletal movement dynamics Carolyn taught me, to loosen tension and relieve post op pain. I integrated the ATM exercises into my rehab to accelerate a full return to pain free activities.
And today, I continue biking, skiing and hiking, aware of my body movements and ready to use what I learned from Carolyn at the first sign of pain or tension. Thanks Carolyn!
For years I struggled with a neck and lower back pain, which finally motivated me to attend a Feldenkrais class with Carolyn. What a wonderful discovery! Only a few lessons later I was pain free, an achievement I never reached with traditional physical therapy. Carolyn’s thoughtful, experienced instruction helped me to move my body in a better, more natural, and fluid manner. The slow and effortless movements taught in each lesson have had a positive impact on my whole being, reaching a greater range of motion and flexibility. Carolyn is intuitive and compassionate with her students. I highly recommend her personalized approach of the Feldenkrais-Method to people of all ages and abilities.
I came to Carolyn with a long term neck/shoulder/arm repetitive motion injury from playing bagpipes. With her advanced training and skillful intuition, she was able to assess the problem and give me instant pain relief. Over several sessions, she helped reboot and reintegrate the messages sent from my brain to my neck and shoulder. These sessions increased my range of motion and led to efficient, pain free movement. It was like magic and such a welcomed relief!
I highly recommend Carolyn and her Feldenkrais method of care.

For a number of years, I suffered from, and was medicated for, occasional vascular headaches. At times, these headaches would last for several days, and could be debilitating. Carolyn worked with me, in private hands-on Feldenkrais sessions, addressing issues relating to posture, and tension emanating all the way from my legs to my neck and head. I was always surprised at the feeling of ease and connectedness I felt throughout my body after these sessions, and at the changes which continued to occur for days afterward. I have not had a vascular headache since her work, and I’m a great, and grateful, believer in the effectiveness of the Feldenkrais Method. Carolyn is a very skilled practitioner of this work.

I highly recommend Carolyn's online Feldenkrais classes. She conducts her classes with warmth and lightness, while ensuring that her students are following the lessons clearly and safely. The classes are relaxed, yet also comfortably challenging, and Carolyn's style makes that possible.
